Alois Müller (born September 16, 1891 in Altdorf ; † September 30, 1973 there ; entitled to live in Altdorf) was a Swiss politician (KVP / CVP) .

biography

Family and work

The Catholic baptized, born Altdorfer Alois Müller, son of farmers Kaspar Müller and his spouse Anna born Zurfluh, led a farm after compulsory education. He also worked as a cattle dealer . Alois Müller's first marriage in 1920 was Anna, the daughter of the farmer Dominik Herger. In 1961 he married Emilie, the daughter of the munitions factory employee Emil Mattli. Alois Müller died at the end of September 1973 two weeks after turning 82 in his home town of Altdorf.

Functions in peasant organizations

Alois Müller held positions in farming organizations of all levels, including that of the President of the Uri Farmers 'Association from 1932 to 1942 and that of the President of the Central Swiss Farmers' Association from 1940 to 1944.

Political career

Alois Müller, who joined the Swiss Conservative People's Party (KVP), was elected to Altdorf's local council in 1921 , to which he belonged until 1924. From 1922 to 1930 he sat on the citizens' council. In addition, he was represented on the Senate from 1924 to 1931, where he held the office of Vice President. In 1932 the people elected him to the Uri district administrator , from which he resigned in 1939. In 1944 he was elected to the government council , where he was appointed director of agriculture and forestry, and in 1963 he retired from politics due to age. Alois Müller is one of the most prominent and high-profile peasant politicians in Central Switzerland in the war and post-war period.
