Alois Scherf (born May 10, 1897 in Celle ; † January 14, 1965 in Hanover ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending the Episcopal Gymnasium Josephinum in Hildesheim , Scherf volunteered in 1914 to serve as a weapon and took part in the First World War as a soldier . Then he took a degree in law and political science at the Universities of Göttingen and Kiel on which he awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He settled in Hanover as a lawyer in 1923 and also became a notary in 1931. During the time of National Socialism he campaigned for victims of justice.

He received the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit .

Scherf joined the CDU in 1945 and was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (2nd to 5th electoral term) from January 16, 1952, when he replaced Heinrich Hellwege , who had left the parliament , until his death . There he was chairman of the DP / CDU parliamentary group from May 9, 1955 to May 5, 1959 and, after the dissolution of the parliamentary group from May 11, 1959, until his death, chairman of the CDU parliamentary group.
