Alois Schmiedbauer (born April 24, 1902 in Mattsee ; † May 27, 1989 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian art educator , photographer , painter and restorer .

Life

Coming from a farming family in Seeham , he completed his teacher training in the interwar period . He then worked as a teacher for mathematics, as well as drawing and painting, professor for visual arts education, state school board inspector, photographer, long-time president of the Salzburg city association , and as a painter and restorer. His name is associated with numerous books and illustrated books, such as works and sites of secular art in Austria and masterpieces of church art . His illustrated books on the shape and face of the city of Salzburg were published in several editions .

Alois Schmiedbauer is buried in the Petersfriedhof Salzburg . In 1992 a street in the city of Salzburg was named after him.
