As the second of three children, Alois "Blacky" Schwarz grew up on his parents' farm in the village of Langzwettl in Zwettl an der Rodl in Upper Austria , around 20 km north of Linz. He learned the carpentry trade in a carpentry shop in his hometown. Alois Schwarz has been enthusiastic about cross-country skiing since primary school. His athletic talent was discovered and promoted. He won several national and state championship titles, took part in three world championships and finally in the 1988 Olympic Games in Calgary and 1992 in the Olympic Games in Albertville . With rank 18 over 30 km (classic) on February 15, 1988 on the trails in Canmore near Calgary, he placed an ÖSV cross-country skier over this distance at the Olympic Games.

Professionally, Alois Schwarz worked as a customs officer and ski attendant for the Fischer company . On Schwarz's initiative, two other farmers joined together with him as the first organic farming community in Austria to form the “Langzwettler Cheese Farmers”. Schwarz came across the idea of making hard cheese while doing sports in the high mountains. On the way home from a Landescup cross-country race in Rosenau, Blacky Schwarz had a fatal accident on the autobahn a few kilometers to Sattledt on January 31, 1999. His heavily pregnant wife Margarete and his two children got away with minor injuries.

Alois Schwarz's daughter Nathalie Schwarz , who witnessed this accident at the time, is also a cross-country skier. In 2014 she took part in the Olympic Games in Sochi for Austria .
