Alois Weidenhillinger

Alois Weidenhillinger (born June 10, 1883 in Neukirchen an der Enknach , Upper Austria ; † February 5, 1942 in Salzburg , Salzburg ) was an Austrian politician ( SdP ).

Life

Alois Weidenhillinger only had a simple school education. After just four classes in elementary school, he learned the trade of blacksmith and in 1899 went on a journey that would take him to Salzburg. After his military service, which he completed from 1904 to 1907, he became an employee of the Imperial and Royal State Railways in 1908 . Weidenhillinger also became a member of the railway workers' union.

In the mid-1910s, Weidenhillinger became chairman of the socialists in Salzburg-Stadt, which was to be followed by election to the state party executive committee of the SDAP for the entire state of Salzburg in 1919. In 1921 he was sworn in as a councilor in Salzburg. In this position he worked until 1934. From February 1929 to May 1932 Weidenhillinger was a member of the Salzburg state parliament . Most recently he represented the interests of his home state Salzburg in the Federal Council in Vienna from May 27, 1932 to February 17, 1934 ( fourth legislative period ).

Alois Weidenhillinger spent several months in prison in 1934 because of his resistance to Austrofascism .

The Alois-Weidenhillinger-Weg in the Salzburg district of Itzling has been named after the politician since 1988 .
