The Alp Mitterhaus is 1,084 m height in Retter Pregnant valley , a valley at the Ostrach Valley , immediately on the left bank of the Bsonderach . The Alpe building consists of a two-storey, elongated saddle roof structure. Above the stone ground floor there is a shingled frame structure .

history

The Retterschwanger Valley was settled in the 14th century, and the Mitterhaus was first mentioned as a hamlet . In 1572 the Counts of Fugger acquired real estate in Hindelang and in the Retterschwanger Valley. The Fuggers set up a mare farm for horse breeding in the Mitterhaus . After several changes of ownership, Gut Mitterhaus came into the possession of the Augsburg bishopric in 1654 . The building in its current form was built between 1767 and 1768. In the course of secularization , the Mitterhaus fell to the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1803 . The property was auctioned and acquired by the Heyl family. Prince Regent Luitpold von Bayern acquired the Mitterhaus in 1900 through an exchange agreement . Even after the end of the monarchy in Bavaria in 1918, the estate remained in the possession of the Wittelsbachers , who use it as a Sennalpe. The Mitterhaus has been privately owned again since 2003 and is managed as a Sennalpe from the end of May to the end of September.
