Alper Çetin Tezeren

Alper Çetin Tezeren (* 1944 in Gebze , Kocaeli Province ) is a former Turkish rear admiral who was, among other things, commander in chief of the Coast Guard ( Turk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) between 1996 and 1998 .

Life

Training and employment as a naval officer

After attending school in 1958, Tezeren entered the sea cadet institute ( Deniz Lisesi ) and began training at the naval school ( Deniz Harp Okulu ) after its completion in 1963 , where he was promoted to sub-lieutenant ( Asteğmen ). Once finished in 1965, he was used on various ships and command units of the Navy ( Türk Deniz Kuvvetleri ) such as a second marine engineer the TCG Çarşamba (A-594) , a mine sweeper of the Auk class , and as first officer of the Torpedo quickly bootes TCG Atmaca (P-322) . Between 1972 and 1974 he was a graduate of the Naval Academy ( Deniz Harp Akademisi ) and then between 1974 and 1978 he was head of the planning and administrative department of the personnel department in the High Command of the Navy. He was then first in command of the TCG Martı (P-341) , a Dogan-class missile speedboat launched on July 28, 1977 and officially put into service on August 1, 1978 . 1979 followed a visit to the Armed Forces Academy ( Silahlı Kuvetler Akademisi ), which was followed by assignments as commander of the torpedo speedboat TCG Pelikan (P-326) and as first officer of the TCG Adatepe (D-353) , a destroyer of the gearing class.

Tezeren was then employed from 1980 to 1983 as a training officer in the intelligence department at the headquarters of the Allied Forces of NATO in southern Europe AFSOUTH ( Allied Forces Southern Europe ) in Naples and then from 1983 to 1985 as commander of the destroyer TCG Yücetepe, which also belongs to the gearing class (D-345) . He was then head of training at the Naval School from 1985 to 1987, during which time he completed a course at the National Security Academy ( Milli Güvenlik Akademisi ) in 1986 , before he was Secretary General in the High Command of the Navy from 1987 to 1989. Thereupon he acted between 1989 and 1990 as commodore of the 1st Schnellbootflotille and from 1990 to 1991 as head of the operational group of the fleet command.

Promotion to rear admiral

On August 30, 1991 Tezeren was promoted to Flotilla Admiral ( Tuğamiral ) and then took over between 1991 and 1992 the post of Chief of Staff of the Fleet Command ( Donanma Komutanlığı ). He then moved to NATO headquarters in Brussels from 1992 to 1995 , where he was head of the intelligence department of the NATO military committee. After his return to Turkey he was promoted to Rear Admiral ( Tümamiral ) on August 30, 1995 and was then commander of the naval school until August 14, 1996.

As the successor to Rear Admiral Aydın Canel , Tezeren was appointed Supreme Commander of the Coast Guard ( Türk Sahil Güvenlik Komutanlığı ) on August 14, 1996 and held this position until he was replaced by Rear Admiral Yalçın Ertuna on August 14, 1998. He was then again between 1998 and 1999 Chief of Staff of the Fleet Command and, most recently, from 1999 until his retirement on August 30, 2000, Head of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department in the High Command of the Navy.

Alper Çetin Tezeren, who is married to Gönül Tezeren and has a daughter, speaks English as well as Turkish .
