Alexis Mitsuru Shirahama PSS ( Japanese ア レ キ シ オ 白 浜 満 , Arekishio Shirahama Mitsuru ; born May 20, 1962 in Shin-Uonome (today: Shin-Kamigotō ), Minami-Matsuura district , Japan ) is a Japanese religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Hiroshima .

Life

Alexis Mitsuru Shirahama received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Nagasaki on March 19, 1990 . In 1993 he joined the Sulpizian religious order .

On June 28, 2016, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Hiroshima. The Archbishop of Osaka , Thomas Aquino Man'yō Maeda , donated him episcopal ordination on September 19 of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Nagasaki, Joseph Mitsuaki Takami PSS, and the Bishop of Kyoto , Paul Yoshinao Ōtsuka .
