Paul Yoshinao Ōtsuka

Paul Yoshinao Ōtsuka ( Japanese パ ウ ロ 大 塚 喜 直 , Pauro Ōtsuka Yoshinao ; born October 7, 1954 in Kyoto ) is a Japanese clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kyoto .

Life

Paul Yoshinao Ōtsuka received on 20 March 1984, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On March 3, 1997, Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Kyoto. The emeritus bishop of Kyoto, Raymond Ken'ichi Tanaka , donated him episcopal ordination on June 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Takamatsu , Joseph Satoshi Fukahori , and the Bishop of Hiroshima , Joseph Atsumi Misue .

On July 8, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him a member of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue .
