The Roman Catholic Diocese of Hiroshima ( lat. : Dioecesis Hiroshimaensis , jap. カトリック広島教区 , katorikku Hiroshima Kyoku ) is in Japan situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Hiroshima .

history

World Peace Church in Hiroshima

The Diocese of Hiroshima was on May 4, 1923 by Pope Pius XI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Cum ex apostolico from cessions of territory of the Diocese of Osaka as the Apostolic Vicariate of Hiroshima . The Apostolic Vicariate of Hiroshima was founded on June 30, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. with the Apostolic Constitution Qui arcano Dei raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Osaka as a suffragan .

The Diocese of Hiroshima comprises the Chūgoku region with the prefectures of Hiroshima , Okayama , Shimane , Tottori and Yamaguchi .
