Alphonse Cox

Alphonse Cox (born February 9, 1902 in Liège ; † 1976 ) was a Belgian jazz trumpeter who worked mainly in France in the 1930s .

Act

Cox was one of first in 1922 to the Creole Five of Arthur Briggs , then the Five Merry Kids around the pianist Jean Pâques in Belgium and toured in 1926 as a member of the Michigan Jazz Band to Gaby Malaël in Italy. In 1927 he worked in London with the New Stompers and Billy Arnold . Then he was active with Charles Remue and His New Stompers Orchestra , with whom he made recordings in London ("Vladivostok"). In 1932 he played alongside Noël Chiboust in Patrick et son Orchester , which Guy Paquinet directed. In 1934 he recorded in Paris with Jazz Patrick on the side of Django Reinhardt . At the end of June 1935 he also took part in a recording session of the Quintette du Hot Club de France , in which he worked with Stéphane Grappelli , Django Reinhardt, Roger Chaput , Joseph Reinhardt , Louis Vola , and the expanded cast of Arthur Briggs, Pierre Allier , Eugène d ' Hellemmes and Baro Ferret recorded the titles "Avalon" and "Smoke Rings". In the field of jazz he was involved in five recording sessions between 1927 and 1935.
