The Alpsee is an 88 hectare lake in Bavaria in the Ostallgäu district . It has a circumference of 4.70 km and belongs to the municipality of Schwangau and is located in the immediate vicinity of the royal castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein at the foot of the Säuling mountain . The lake is considered to be one of the cleanest lakes in Germany and is used in summer as a bathing lake in a specially created bathing establishment (Alpseebad, on the south bank). There is also a boathouse where pedal boats and rowing boats can be hired. When it is cold enough, the lake is also used for ice skating in winter.

The lake is located in the landscape protection area protection of landscape parts in the area of the Faulenbacher valley, the Lech valley, the Schwansee valley and the alpine lake area in the district of Füssen (LSG-00078.01).

The lake is owned by the Free State of Bavaria and the Wittelsbach Compensation Fund is the leaseholder of the lake.

The Museum of the Bavarian Kings, which opened at the end of 2011, is located directly on the Alpsee.
