Altay Yavuzaslan (born September 4, 1942 in Isparta , † June 3, 1997 ) was a Turkish football goalkeeper . Through his many years of work for Ankara Demirspor , he is associated with this association. In the 1962/63 season Yavuzaslan was active for the traditional Istanbul club Galatasaray and reached the Turkish football champions with this club at the end of the season .
Player career
society
Yavuzaslan began his professional football career in 1961 with the then Istanbul first division club Vefa . Despite his age of 19 years, he was the goalkeeper for long stretches.
Through his performance at Vefa, he was noticed by those in charge at Galatasaray Istanbul who were looking for a replacement and subsequent successor for the undisputed goalkeeper Turgay Şeren . So Yavuzaslan switched to the reigning Turkish champions Galatasaray for the 1962/63 season . Here he played five full-length league games over a season and became Turkish champions and cup winners with his team at the end of the season .
After just one season he left Galatasaray and moved within the league to the capital city club Ankara Demirspor . Here he played the next eight seasons and rose to the national team in 1969. At the end of the 1970/71 season he missed relegation with his team and rose to the second highest Turkish league, in the 2nd league . In the 2nd Lig he played for Demirspor for an indefinite period and then ended his playing career.
National team
Yavuzaslan was appointed to the squad of the Turkish national team for the first time as part of a test match against the Saudi Arabian national team scheduled for January 17, 1969 by the then national coach Adnan Süvari . In this game he played from the beginning and completed his first and only international match.
death
After his coaching career, Yavuzaslan ran a nightclub and fell in love with a singer who performed in his pub. A little later both married and started a family. In the spring of 1984 he got into a violent family dispute with his wife, in which he fatally injured his wife. He turned himself in to the police and received a prison term . Yavuzaslan died on June 3, 1997 and was buried in the Karşıyaka Cemetery in Ankara .
