Altbernsdorf auf dem Eigen is a district of Bernstadt ad Eigen in the Saxon district of Görlitz in Upper Lusatia . The name affix refers to the historical region of the Eigenschen Kreis .
The place is divided by the Pließnitz , which flows through the community from west to east, into the large side and the small side . In the upper village, the Kemnitzbach flows into the Pließnitz , into which the small Steinbach flows out of the forest.
Altbernsdorf lies at an altitude of 214 to 218 m above sea level and has about 570 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015).
history
Altbernsdorf was first mentioned as Bernhardisdorf in a document dated September 22nd, 1234 . At that time, large parts of what is now the city of Bernstadt belonged to the diocese of Meissen. From 1245 on, Bernhardisdorf belonged to the Lord of Schönburg by enfeoffing the diocese of Meissen. The place name Altbernsdorf only caught on in the 15th century. In 1994 Altbernsdorf was incorporated into Bernstadt ad Eigen.
