Old Church (Leinefelde)
The Roman Catholic Old Church of St. Maria Magdalena is in Leinefelde-Worbis in the Eichsfeld district in Thuringia .
history
The old church was built between 1729 and 1733 . The Erfurt auxiliary bishop Christoph Ignatius von Gudenus inaugurated it in 1733.
In 1977, 1982 and 1995 the church was renovated and repainted in 2002.
Furnishing
In the church is the baroque high altar, created by Josef Emil Martin from Duderstadt from 1737 to 1738 . The side altar and the pulpit also date from the 18th century.
A special piece of equipment is the double Madonna created at the beginning of the 18th century . On one side it depicts Mary with child and on the other side either Mary as Immaculate or Mary Magdalene . It is assumed that the double Madonna comes from the Benedictine monastery of Gerode , which was closed in 1803 .
