The Old Evangelical Church in Buschbell is a listed church building in Buschbell , a district of Frechen in the Rhein-Erft district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

A hall church , probably from the 13th century, is proven as the previous building . Around 1670 this building was so dilapidated that a comprehensive restoration, in parts even a new building, was under discussion. This discussion dragged on until 1740; the church had become so dilapidated that all that remained was demolition. The builder Johannes Kribben from Brühl built a new church. It is marked 1741 above the portal . The interior was painted in a neo-Gothic style in 1875 . During the Third Reich , the neo-Gothic furnishings were reduced, the walls were painted white and the two side altars were removed. Today's church was originally under the patronage of St. Ulrich and was used as a Catholic parish church until 1964 . Thereafter, until 1982 the Protestant community had the right to host; In 1982 she took over the building, which was in dire need of renovation, and renovated it from the ground up. A community center was built on the south side and connected to the church. In 2007, economic reasons forced the congregation to give up the church. The building and the adjoining parish hall were bought by the Gold Kraemer Foundation. Since 2009 the object has been used for church services of both denominations and the integrative meeting center is housed there.

Furnishing

  • Two glass paintings in the gallery windows have been preserved from the 19th century furnishings .
  • Georg Meistermann created designs for the six windows of the nave between 1941 and 1944. The windows were manufactured in the Wilhelm Derix workshop in Düsseldorf. Economic and technical problems in the post-war period caused production to be delayed. The last two windows were installed in 1962.
  • The carved neo-Gothic high altar is from 1875. It is crowned by Christ, the judge of the world.
