Altena is a district of Breckerfeld in the Ennepe-Ruhr district in the administrative district of Arnsberg in North Rhine-Westphalia ( Germany ).

Location and description

Altena is located in the northeast of the Breckerfeld urban area at 369 meters above sea level in the Waldbauer district on the city limits of Hagen, east of Zurstraße . Other neighboring towns are Niederfeldhausen , Stenking , Kalthausen , Wirminghausen and Baunscheidt . To the south is the forest area on the Krägeloher Berg .

Altena was first mentioned in a document in 1456 in a list of those authorized to use the Kuhweider Mark . The document speaks of a Vrykoete tom Altena, Hentzen to Velthusen .
