Friedrich Heinrich Goddäus

Friedrich Heinrich Goddäus (also Goddaeus , born May 11, 1734 in Kassel ; † July 24, 1795 ibid) was mayor of Kassel from 1781 to 1795 .

origin

He was a son of Johann Friedrich Goddaeus (1692–1772), Hessen-Kassel Vice Chancellor and Privy Councilor , and his wife Catharina Christine geb. Dehn-Rothfelser (1705–1782). His father's ancestors came from Westphalia . One of them was Johann Gödde (1555–1632), born in Schwerte, who studied law in Marburg , where he became rector of the Philipps University and Latinized his name : Johannes Goddaeus .

Friedrich Heinrich's younger brother Heinrich Goddaeus (1742-1819) was a Landgrave Hessian judicial and administrative clerk , last judge at the Higher Appeal Court in Kassel, was raised to the nobility in 1812 and 1814 and thus became the progenitor of the Hessian noble family von Goddaeus.

Life

Friedrich Heinrich Goddäus studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg and in 1762 became a lay judge at the city court in Kassel. After almost 20 years in the landgrave's judicial and administrative service, he became mayor of the royal seat of Kassel in 1781. He held this office until his death in July 1795.
