history

In 1848 Altenhagen II, still under the name Altenhagen, had 22 residential buildings with 173 inhabitants and had a school. When the districts were founded in 1885, the place belonged to the Springe district , which also included a second and larger Altenhagen. The Roman numerals I and II were added to the two Altenhagen to make a clear distinction.

With the regional reform in Lower Saxony , the previously independent municipality of Altenhagen II was incorporated into the municipality of Messenkamp on March 1, 1974, which was incorporated into the Schaumburg-Lippe district when the district of Springe was dissolved. Altenhagen I , the other Altenhagen in the Springe district, is now a Springer district.
