Alter Ego is a new music ensemble in Italy , founded in Rome in 1990 . Today it is one of the world's leading special ensembles for the music of the 20th and 21st centuries.
repertoire
Characteristic for the ensemble is the recurring collaboration with artists from various fields: electronic music , pop music , visual art or even acting . In 2004, Alter Ego organized the Cometodaddy Festival in the auditorium in Milan in collaboration with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano . In 2005, Alter Ego presented a new version of Gavin Bryars ' The Sinking of the Titanic at the Venice Biennale .
In 2006 a project called Microwaves took place. This project was realized in collaboration with the Finnish electronic duo Pan Sonic and various composers ( Atli Ingolfsson , Yan Maresz , Riccardo Nova and Giovanni Verrando ). Six international festivals appeared as co-producers: Stockholm New Music, MaerzMusik, Festival Archipel, Ircam, Holland Festival , Romaeuropa Festival. Microwaves has also been performed at various other major festivals. Alter Ego is currently working regularly with the Auditorium Fondazione Musica per Roma .

In July 2002, Alter Ego received the Editor's Choice of the Gramophone music magazine.
