Paolo Ravaglia

Paolo Ravaglia (born August 7, 1959 in Lugo ) is an Italian clarinetist.

Life

Paolo Ravaglia studied clarinet, jazz and electronic music at the Conservatorio di S. Cecilia in Rome . He is President of the Nuova Consonanza Society and, since 1990, a member of the Alter Ego group , which is dedicated to the performance of contemporary works. Since 1988 he has performed in a duo with Monica Lonero , since 1993 he has worked with the clarinetist and composer William O. Smith , with whom he performs contemporary music and jazz.

He toured Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the USA, appeared on radio and television shows and made numerous albums. As a specialist in experimental music, he has worked with groups and musicians such as PanSonic , Matmos , Djivan Gasparian , Frankie Hi-Nrg , Philip Glass , John De Leo , D-fuse , DJ Scanner and Gavin Bryars .

He appeared as a stage musician in contemporary dance and theater pieces and composed a. a. the music for Private by Saverio Constante , winner of the Golden Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival in 2004 .

Ravaglia is lecturer in clarinet at the Conservatorio GB Martini in Bologna . He also holds seminars across Europe and the USA.
