history

The after intze principle in brick construction in 1904 built vessel was originally 46 meters high and was extensively restored 1,953th The fan lantern and the essential parts of the former jewelry links were removed. The shaft was also plastered and the roof simplified.

In the 1980s they thought about replacing the tower and the new Hatzfeld water tower was built just a few meters next to the old one in 1983/84. The investment for the new water tower at that time was 2.4 million DM. It has a larger total capacity of 2450 m³ with two chambers and was put into operation in 1986. Originally the old Hatzfelder water tower was supposed to follow the fate of its twin brother, the old water tower Lichtscheid (blown up in 1977).

On January 14, 1988, the tower, which was closed and sold in 1984, was entered as a monument in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal.

The condition of the tower has been deteriorating noticeably for several years. The owner who lives abroad is willing to sell it. The Hatzfeld citizens' association would like a new way of using the tower; it suggests using it as an observatory, for gastronomic purposes or as an original apartment.
