Julius Dicke

Julius Dicke (born April 21, 1863 in Barmen (today a district of Wuppertal ); † July 12, 1933 in Wuppertal) was a German architect and municipal building officer . Its preserved buildings are protected as architectural monuments.

Live and act

Dick, who came from an old Unterbarmer factory owner family, first attended the Barmer Oberrealschule (today Carl-Duisberg-Gymnasium ) before studying architecture in Stuttgart. He then worked as a freelancer in Munich for several years. He entered the service of the city of Barmen on July 15, 1899 as a city architect. There, under the direction of urban planning inspector Paul Eduard Freygang , he and his colleagues Richard Fischer , W. Huxhold and Eugen Rückle were entrusted with numerous urban construction projects. Later he was appointed city architect. He retired in 1928.

From 1909, Dicke lived in the house at Oberwallstrasse 18 (today Oberwall).

  • 1926–1927: Draft of the memorial plaque for the city employees who died in the First World War, Barmen (executed by the sculptor Friedrich Schluckebier the Younger )
