The old moor is a former nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Seevetal in the Harburg district .

The former nature reserve with the sign NSG LÜ 148 was around 28  hectares in size. It is surrounded to the north, east and south by the landscape protection area "Landscape parts on the Reichsautobahn Hamburg-Hanover from km 11 to km 18". The area has been under nature protection since January 2, 1987. On July 1, 2019, the newly designated " Seeve " nature reserve opened up. The responsible lower nature conservation authority was the district of Harburg.

The area to the northwest of the Maschen-Horst district is almost completely surrounded by roads. In the east and south it borders at the Horster triangle on the A1 , through which part of the moor area was built over, and in the north on other public roads. Only in the west is the former nature reserve bordered by the Seeve river .

The area is formed by a fen in which a lake with its bank areas and a flowing stream is embedded. The area is used by birch - and alder - swamp forests dominated. Birch-oak forests can also be found at higher altitudes . In the outskirts of the former nature reserve there are agricultural areas , which are mainly farmed extensively as grassland .
