Altiris was an American software house based in Lindon , Utah . It was founded in 1998 and offered software for service-oriented management of IT assets . In 2007, Altiris was taken over by Symantec and no longer exists as an independent company.
history
Altiris was founded in 1998 by Jan Newman and Kevin Turpin in Lindon, Utah. The company quickly expanded - with CEO Greg Butterfield - through collaborations with Compaq and Dell . Since May 2002 Altiris has been listed on the US Nasdaq with the symbol ATRS . Already in the 2nd quarter of 2003 with 600 employees a turnover of 22.8 million US- $, a profit of 3.3 million $ and later a total annual turnover of 99.3 million $ was achieved. Counted several times among the fastest growing tech companies , further collaborations and contracts - for example with IBM and Deutsche Bahn - have been concluded. In 2006, the company finally achieved annual sales of $ 229.4 million and a profit of $ 15.5 million.
On January 29, 2007, it was announced that Symantec would acquire Altiris for $ 33 per share ($ 830 million). The acquisition was completed on April 6, 2007 by Symantec.
