history

(Alt-) Krautheim was first mentioned in a document in 1096. After frequently changing affiliations in the course of the late Middle Ages, Altkrautheim gradually came under the sovereignty of Kurmainz in the 14th century and belonged to the Oberamt Krautheim. In 1803 Altkrautheim fell to the newly founded Principality of Krautheim . In 1806 Altkrautheim was incorporated into the Kingdom of Württemberg , while Krautheim fell to Baden north of the Jagst . Since 1811 the place was subordinate to the Oberamt Künzelsau . During the administrative reform during the Nazi era in Württemberg , Altkrautheim came to the Künzelsau district in 1938 . Since the community had become part of the American occupation zone after the Second World War , it had belonged to the newly founded state of Württemberg-Baden since 1945 , which was merged into the current state of Baden-Württemberg in 1952. On January 1, 1973, the previously independent community of Altkrautheim became part of the city of Krautheim as part of the community reform. Today Altkrautheim has about 500 inhabitants.
