history

The monumental fountain Fonte Luminosa

The municipality was created on February 7, 1959 as part of an administrative reorganization of the urban area of ​​Lisbon by separating areas of the municipalities of Arroios , Penha de França and Beato .

In autumn 2013, the community was merged with the neighboring community of São João de Deus to the west to form the new community of Areeiro .
