Alvar Thiel (born February 23, 1893 in Stockholm ; † October 1, 1973 there ) was a Swedish sailor .

successes

Alvar Thiel, who was a member of the Kungliga Svenska Segelsällskapet , won the silver medal as a crew member in the 8-meter class at the Olympic Games in Stockholm in 1912 . At the regatta taking place in Nynäshamn , the Finnish boat Lucky Girl and the Swedish Sans Atout , whose skipper Bengt Heyman acted as skipper , came second in a total of two races, so that there was a tie-off between these two boats. In this, the Sans Atout prevailed, whose crew also included Emil Henriques , Herbert Westermark and Nils Westermark .

Thiel was director of Stockholms Enskilda Bank in Uppsala .
