Alyssa Ann Lagonia (born June 30, 1989 in Kitchener , Ontario ) is an Italian- Canadian soccer player .
Career
Lagonia started her career for the Grand River Renegades, the athletic team at the Grand River Collegiate Institute , where she studied business for three years . During her university time at Wilfrid Laurier University , she played the Golden Hawks for the university's women's soccer team and the 2008 and 2009 summer seasons of the W-League for Toronto Lady Lynx . The 2010 and 2011 seasons she played for the Ottawa Fury during college years . In the 2011 season she was named Canadian University Player Of The Year.
The midfielder moved to the English FA WSL club Doncaster Rovers Belles on March 10, 2012 . After only a year she left England and moved to the land of her ancestors, Italy . There she signed on January 25, 2013 in Verona with ASD CF Bardolino . In the summer of 2014 she moved to Switzerland for FC Neunkirch. After scoring 8 goals in 22 games for Neunkirch in the 2014/2015 season, she became team captain of FC Neunkirch with the start of the 2015/2016 season . After the end of women's football at FC Neunkirch in May 2017, she kept fit at Kitchener SC. On August 5, 2017, she signed with UEFA Women's Champions League participant and Cypriot champions Apollon Ladies FC .
National team
Lagonia is an international player for the Canadian women's national soccer team and made her A international debut in March 2009 against New Zealand as part of the Cyprus Cup . She previously appeared in six games for the U-20s of Canada, scoring three goals.
Coaching career
In May 2009 she briefly coached boys and girls in the D-youth age at the South Huron Soccer Club in Exeter .
Private
Since 2011 she has been a senior instructor at the Canadian sports agency Elite Athletes based in Kitchener, Ontario .
