Culture and sights
The history of the church in Alzingen, consecrated to St. Joseph , dates back to the 9th century. Its Romanesque tower with the three bells consecrated in 1962 , the oldest part of the building, is now inclined to the west so that it can be seen with the naked eye. The church has existed in its current form since the end of 1885, when it was enlarged through extensive construction work. The Alzinger church was last renovated between July 1998 and March 2000. In the course of this renovation, the magnificent baroque altar from the 18th century , which had been removed from the church for decades, was re-erected.
Outside the church there is a cemetery chapel built in 1895 (the actual cemetery was moved to the outskirts in 1958) and a restored cross from 1730.
