Amédée Gastoué

Amédée Henri Gustave Noël Gastoué (born March 13, 1873 in Paris , † June 1, 1943 in Clamart ) was a French musicologist and composer .

Gastoué studied with Albert Lavignac and Alexandre Guilmant . He was Kapellmeister at St. Jean-Baptiste de Belleville and teacher of Gregorian chant at the Schola Cantorum and the Catholic University in Paris. From 1934 to 1936 and from 1939 he was President of the Société Française de Musicologie .

He wrote a number of works on the history of church music , especially on Gregorian chant, and composed church music, orchestral works, chamber music as well as piano and organ works.
