Albert Lavignac
Alexandre Jean Albert Lavignac (born January 21, 1846 in Paris , † May 28, 1916 there ) was a French musicologist and composer .
Life
Lavignac studied with Antoine François Marmontel , François Benoist and Ambroise Thomas at the Paris Conservatory , where he later worked as a professor of harmony . He was best known for his writings on music theory.
His compositions, however, are largely forgotten, only his Galop Marche for piano eight hands is performed frequently.
