The spacious complex was built between the middle of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, making it one of the early buildings of this type in the region.

In the time of the GDR it was used as an FDGB vacation home. In 2003 it was partially demolished. At the same time, the DRK senior citizens' and nursing home on Am Schwedderberg 19 was built. Construction began on February 1, 2003. The house has 46 beds, should cost € 2.3 million and was opened on December 8, 2003. On April 22, 2012, the still existing house burned down after an arson attack and was later demolished.
