Norbert Orthen (born June 10, 1948 in Wissen (Sieg) ) is a German publisher and editor . He has been particularly concerned with the history of Altenberg for years .

Life

After graduating from the Hölderlin-Gymnasium in Cologne-Mülheim in 1969, he studied German , biology and pedagogy at the University of Cologne . He received his doctorate in German studies in 1976. He then became a teacher at the Archbishop's Ursuline School in Cologne . He retired on July 31, 2012. Orthen is married; he has a daughter and a son.

Altenberg Cathedral

Since the 1980s he has been concerned with the history of Altenberg, where the Bergisches Land was created in 1101 . For him, the Cistercian legacy of Altenberg with the Altenberg Cathedral is in the foreground. In 2004 he was awarded the Order's Familiar Award. In 2014 he took over the editing of the Cistercienser Chronik . Since 1998 he has been the publisher of Altenberger Blätter . Together with Petra Janke, he oversees the Altenberger Fenster lecture and exhibition program for the Catholic parish of St. Mariä Himmelfahrt at Altenberg Cathedral.

Rheinisch-Bergischer calendar

From the publication of the 74th year for the 2004 calendar year until February 28, 2015, Orthen was the editor and editor in charge of the Rheinisch-Bergisch calendar .
