The Cistercians Chronicle (official abbreviation: CistC ) is a historical-theological journal for the subjects of history, art, literature and spirituality of monasticism with a focus on the Cistercians and related orders. The magazine was founded in 1889 with Gregor Müller and is published by the publishing house of the Cistercian Abbey Mehrerau near Bregenz . The publisher is usually the respective abbot of Wettingen-Mehrerau. The following worked as editors: Gregor Müller (1842–1934) born 1889–1934, Kassian Haid (1879–1949), born 1934–1938, Bruno Griesser (1889–1965), born 1939–1941, 1947–1965, Columban Spahr (1909–2000), born 1965–1974, Hermann Josef Roth (* 1938), born 1974–1996, 2001–2013, since 2014 Norbert Orthen .

From 1889 to the 1960s, the CistC appeared several times a year and had the character of a religious newspaper. It was usually divided into the following parts: 1. Articles and contributions on the history of the order, theology, saints of the order, monastic; 2. News from the individual monasteries; 3. obituaries; 4. Literature reports. The high documentary value of these resources can now be made accessible through a total of three registers (see below: Literature).

Today the magazine appears three times a year. The focus is on spirituality and the contemporary development of the order worldwide. In addition to articles, each edition also offers a section with reviews of newly published literature dealing with the Order of Cîteaux .
