Amadou Gon Coulibaly

Amadou Gon Coulibaly (born February 10, 1959 in Abidjan ; † July 8, 2020 there ) was a politician of the Rassemblement des Républicains and from January 10, 2017 until his death Prime Minister of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire ( Ivory Coast ).

Life

In the 1990s he worked as a technical advisor to Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara . From 1995 to 2000 he was a member of the National Assembly . From October 2002 to February 2010 he was Minister of Agriculture .

From January 2017 he was Prime Minister of the Ivory Coast, succeeding Daniel Kablan Duncan . He was considered one of the favorites in the election for the presidency scheduled for October 31, 2020.

He had a heart transplant in 2012. Shortly before his death, he had been treated for eight weeks in France. A stent had been inserted there. According to Ivorian broadcaster RTI, Gon Coulibaly suffered a heart attack on July 8, 2020 during a cabinet meeting.
