Amargosa Valley is a settlement in Nye County on US Highway 95 in the US state of Nevada . The demarcation on the outer southwest edge of the Nevada National Security Site in the semi-desert beyond Death Valley , which is separated by a mountain range, consists of only a few buildings - gas station, restaurant, a brothel and a campsite as well as a handful of trailer homes and scattered stable houses 1456 inhabitants (as of 2010) on an area of 1.41 km² and an average height of 805 m . An extensive sand dune dominates the western edge of the valley (see picture) and is popular for buggy kiting .
The Amargosa Valley settlement was named after the Amargosa River , which flows through the high valley of the same name.
