Amber Lee Ettinger (born October 2, 1982 in Hazleton , Pennsylvania ) is an American actress and model . She achieved particular fame in 2007 under the name Obama Girl in a series of online videos in which she supported Barack Obama in the 2008 US presidential election .

Career

Ettinger is of German - Irish descent. She studied clothing and fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York with the aim of developing her own clothing line. In August 2003 she was named Miss New York City . In addition to other modeling competitions, she was seen as a dancer in a music video. She also works as a photo model and was a cover girl for Maxim and Playboy .

In 2007 she achieved national and sometimes even international fame with the song and internet video I Got a Crush ... On Obama . It was named one of the Top Web Videos in 2007 by People magazine ; her video was one of the most viewed YouTube posts in 2007.
