David Finck

David Finck (born August 26, 1958 ) is an American jazz bassist ( double bass , bass guitar ).

Live and act

Finck grew up in a family of musicians and played the double bass at the age of ten. During his high school years he took lessons with several double bass players in the Philadelphia Orchestra . After studying at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, which he graduated in 1980, he went to New York and then toured with Woody Herman's band .

Finck's discography spans over a hundred albums, including gold and platinum record- winning recordings with Rod Stewart , Natalie Cole and Elton John . He has also worked with Dizzy Gillespie , Herbie Hancock , Aretha Franklin , Sinéad O'Connor , Ivan Lins , Al Jarreau , Tony Bennett , Paquito D'Rivera , George Michael , Rosemary Clooney , André Previn , Betty Carter ( The Music Never Stops ) and Michika Fukumori . He also accompanied Sheila Jordan with Steve Kuhn's trio , to which he has belonged for many years .

With his own David Finck Quartet (with Joe Locke , Tom Ranier and Joe LaBarbera ) he released the album Future Day in 2008 . In 2011 he released the album Umbrellas & Sunshine with pianist Roger Davidson .
