Amblytylus nasutus is a species of bug from the family of soft bugs (Miridae).

features

The bugs are 3.9 to 4.8 millimeters long. The species of the genus Amblytylus have a greenish-yellow basic color and an elongated, oval body. Your head is relatively long; almost as long as wide. The compound eyes are small. The top of the body is densely hairy. In Amblytylus nasutus these hairs are dark, as are the membranes of the hemielytras . One can also find the species with Lopus decolor and Megalocoleus molliculus .

Occurrence and habitat

The species is distributed from the south of Scandinavia to North Africa and east to Asia Minor. It was introduced into North America by humans. In Germany, where it is by far the most common species of its genus, the species is widespread, but becomes rarer towards the north. It is not uncommon in Austria in the east. Dry and moderately moist, open habitats with vegetation with sweet grasses (Poaceae) are populated .

Way of life

The bugs live on sweet grasses, such as meadow bluegrass ( Poa pratensis ) or ostrich grasses ( Agrostis ). The adult bugs appear from the beginning of June, rarely from the end of May and can be found until the beginning of August. The females lay their eggs just below the ears of the host plants in the cavity of the stem.
