Ambouli ( Arabic أمبولي) is a city in eastern Djibouti .

geography

The city is located in the Djibouti region as the south-eastern suburb of the capital Djibouti. To the west the place is bounded by a large open space (park) of the same name, the most important street is Aerport Road . Djibouti Airport (Djibouti – Ambouli International Airport) has been in the local area since 1948 . More recently, Camp Lemonnier has also been built south of the airport . The Wadi Ambouli Oued of the same name runs to the northwest and flows west of Djibouti Port (ميناء جيبوتي) into the Gulf of Tadjoura .

history

OGS Crawford identifies the place with "Canbala", a place that is entered on Muhammad al-Idrisi's map of 1192 on the coast of the Horn of Africa . In this map it is located southeast of the Bab al-Mandab Strait . Another identification is "Cambaleh", a city where the Venetian traveler Bragadino is said to have lived for eight years in the 13th century.
