Ambrosius von Viermund zu Oeding (also Viermundt zu Odinck * May 15, 1517 ; † shortly before May 8, 1580 ) was Lord of Oeding and Mallem from the noble family Viermund .

Life

He was born as the youngest son of the Hessian knight Philipp I von Viermund († 1528), Mr. zu Nordenbeck and Bladenhorst , from his second marriage to Margarethe von Schönfeld called Grasdorf.

As a squire, he trained as a knight . After he reached the age of majority, he received the rule of Mallem in the Duchy of Geldern (today's municipality of Berkelland , Netherlands), which his father had acquired in 1519.

In 1536 he was appointed by the Prince-Bishop of Münster, Franz von Waldeck , as bailiff or Drost von Oeding and enfeoffed with the estate there. The castle there, Haus Oeding, was dilapidated at the time and the bishop could not provide sufficient funds for the repair. In 1546 the bishop pledged the castle to Ambrosius and his successor, Prince-Bishop Wilhelm Ketteler , finally sold the castle to him on November 15, 1555 as an inheritance . Ambrosius also acquired estate through the manor Haus Oeding .

In 1550 and 1553, Ambrosius is also mentioned as the wooden judge of the Mark Usselo and in 1556 as the episcopal-Munsteric Drost zu Steinfurt .

From the estate of his mother, he was enfeoffed in 1563 by the Count of Bentheim with the manor Oldenhus called Grasdorf (in today's Grasdorf (Neuenhaus) ).
