Dietrich von Viermund
Dietrich von Viermund zu Oeding (also Viermundt zu Odinck * before 1546; † 1614 ) was lord of Oeding and Mallem from the noble family Viermund .
Life
He was the son and heir of Ambrosius von Viermund zu Oeding and Mallem from his first marriage to Frederune von Morrien . After his father died in 1580, Dietrich was enfeoffed on March 16, 1581 as a vassal of the Prince-Bishop of Münster with the paternal lords of Oeding and Mallem.
He was inclined to Protestantism and introduced the Reformed Faith in his lands at the latest in the 1590s .
When the father of his stepmother Margareta von Elverveldt (* 1516; † 1593) died in 1579, he took possession of his land near Lüdenscheid and in the Bochum district in the county of Mark in the name of the stepmother , while his step-uncle Konrad von Elverfeldt took legal action against Herbede . The case reached the Imperial Court of Justice in Speyer through several instances and ended in favor of Konrad in 1586.
In 1581, together with his third cousin, Ambrosius von Viermund zu Neersen , he protested against a ruling by the Reich Chamber of Commerce that his second-degree niece, Anna von Viermund , with Burg and Herrschaft Nordenbeck , had the old ancestral seat of the Viermund family.
Marriages and offspring
In his first marriage he married Cecilia von dem Berge. After Cecilia's death, he married the maid of one of his sisters, Marcella Kaiser, in his second marriage.
He had at least five children:
- Konrad von Viermund, ⚭ I) Anna von der Hoven called Pampus , ⚭ II) Margaretha von der Hövelich
- Ambrose von Viermund
- Friederike von Viermund (* 1575; † 1617), ⚭ 1601 Ludolf Konrad von Keppel (* 1570; † 1654), Lord of Westerholt and Mingfeld, in 1618 also Lord of Oeding and Mallem
- Helene von Viermund, ⚭ Levin von Plettenberg
- Elisabeth von Viermund
For unclear reasons, his dominions Oeding and Mallem did not fall to his eldest son and his descendants after his death, but to her husband Ludolf Konrad von Keppel zu Westerholt through his daughter Friederike (also Frederunde or Vrede) in 1618.
