Ameni-seneb

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ameni-seneb was an ancient Egyptian civil servant around 1800 BC. BC and thus at the end of the 12th Dynasty ( Middle Kingdom ) mayor and head of the priesthood on the island of Elephantine .

Ameni-seneb was the son of Mayor Heqaib II , who was not his direct predecessor in office. His mother's name was Sattjeni. Ameni-seneb is best known for his activities in the Heqaib shrine on Elephantine. There he donated a shrine and three statues . Other statues and shrines donated by him were dedicated to his father Heqaib II and his relative Heqaibanch , the latter is referred to as his brother , but this does not necessarily suggest a real brotherhood. His successor in office was Chakaureseneb . Both mayors have prints on Elephantine seals on the same tone bull. This proves that they were in office at the same time, which has not yet been further attested for mayors.
