Americium (IV) fluoride is a fluoride of the artificial element and actinoid americium with the empirical formula AmF 4 . Americium occurs in this salt in the +4 oxidation state.

presentation

The synthesis of americium (IV) fluoride takes place via the oxidative fluorination of americium (III) fluoride .

properties

Americium (IV) fluoride is a pale pink ionic compound consisting of Am 4+ and F - ions. It crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system in the space group C 2 / c (space group no. 15) with the lattice parameters a  = 1249  pm , b  = 1047 pm, c  = 820 pm and β = 126.1 °, as well as twelve formula units per unit cell . Its crystal structure is isotype with uranium (IV) fluoride . Template: room group / 15

safety instructions

Classifications according to the CLP regulation are not available because they only include chemical hazard and play a completely subordinate role compared to the hazards based on radioactivity . The latter also only applies if the amount of substance involved is relevant.
