The footage used in the documentary series originally comes from episodes of the first season of the US documentary drama series The Making of the Mob , which was produced by Stephen David Entertainment . Frauke Wolf produced the German revision for Kelvinfilm and the documentary series was broadcast for the first time in Germany by the television program ZDF-History .
As in The Making of the Mob , this documentary series is commented on by various well-known people: including the authors Selwyn Raab , Gay Talese and Rich Cohen , the former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani , the actors Joe Mantegna , Vincent Pastore , Chazz Palminteri , Frank Vincent and Drea de Matteo and also by Meyer Lansky's grandson Meyer Lansky II and Thomas Dewey's grandson Thomas Dewey III.
