Amerton

Amerton , Ammerton or Ammerten was a large settlement in the Ammertental behind Stechelberg in the Bernese Oberland , Switzerland .

Amerton was settled by the Walser , as well as Mürren , Gimmelwald , Trachsellauenen and Sichellauenen in the Lauterbrunnen valley and other places in the Bernese Oberland such as Saxeten . When and why this settlement was abandoned is not known. It is mentioned for the last time in the choir court manual from 1762 .
