Amie Comeaux

Amie Noelle Comeaux (born December 4, 1976 in Brusly , Louisiana , † December 21, 1997 , near Lacombe , Louisiana) was an American country singer.

Career

Amie Comeaux began singing as a child in nursing homes and at weddings. When she was nine, she sang The Star-Spangled Banner at a New Orleans Saints game at the Louisiana Superdome . Comeaux was also selected at age eleven to star in the musical Annie at the Baton Rouge Little Theater. She was discovered during a performance by the renowned country producer Harold Shedd , who had great success with Alabama and Reba McEntire .

Comeaux's debut album Moving Out was released on Polydor in 1994 . The first single Who's She to You reached number 64 on the Billboard country charts . Two other singles, the theme song from their debut Moving Out , written by KT Oslin , and Blue , missed the charts. Her record company did not succeed in getting the talented singer with the expressive voice on the radio and in 1995 she was released from her contract. Comeaux returned to Louisiana, where she had a loyal local fan base and continued to perform live, including at a country festival in the UK.

A few weeks after her 21st birthday, Comeaux had a car accident in 1997. The singer had been working on a comeback to the last and almost finished the recordings for a second album.

Two posthumous albums with unreleased recordings were released in 1998 and 2006. In 2007 a DVD, Memories of a Very Special Angel , was also released.
