Aminoff is the name of an originally Russian, from the 17th century Swedish aristocratic family that was able to spread to Finland in the 18th century.

history

The family comes from the Novgorod area . Feodor Gregorievitj Aminev († 1628) governor of Ivangorod , entered the Swedish service and received a letter of arms from King Gustav Adolf on September 24, 1618 , which naturalized his family in Sweden. His son, the Swedish colonel and governor of Augdov , Esaias (Jesse) Aminoff († 1657) was introduced to the noble class on September 10, 1650 at the knight's house (No. 456). On March 11, 1778, the knighthood came to the family.

Finnish branches

The Swedish major general Johan Fredrik Aminoff (* 1756; † 1842) was introduced to the Finnish knight's house on May 2, 1818 (No. 36). No use was made in Sweden of a princely dignity according to the birthright for his descendants. On September 17, 1818, he was raised to the baron class (No. 25), on November 6, 1821 he was inducted into the count class according to the birthright (No. 5).
