Amor & die Kids was a German music group.

history

In 1985, Amor & die Kids was founded by Mario Rostenbeck and Frank Schüller. She emerged from the amateur band Süd-Rock-Team from Leipzig . The band name refers to Frank Schüller as "Amor", who was significantly older than his bandmates ("the kids").

They had their first appearance during the Whitsun meeting of the FDJ in 1985. In 1986, Amor & die Kids produced their first titles on radio in the GDR and in Sieghard Schubert's private studio , with which they made their breakthrough to the public. Her songs consisted of everyday, funny texts and were packed in simple melodies. In the same year, Amor & the Kids received the special award of the Rock section at the Committee for Entertainment Art for the 12th Central Performance Show of Amateur Dance Music and the sponsorship award of the Central Council of the FDJ for the 8th Workshop Week of Youth Dance Music.

After Tobias Künzel left the band in 1989 to start a solo career and later go to the princes , Amor & the kids broke up that same year. In 1995 the band re-formed around the founding members Rostenbeck and Schüller with other musicians. In addition to their own songs, their repertoire also consisted of cover versions of hits from past decades.
